AIO-School Kristal- & Struktuuronderzoek 2005

From October 24 till 28, 2005 an AIO-School will be organized under the auspices of the NVK (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Kristallografie) by order of the “CW-NWO Studiegroep Kristal- en Struktuuronderzoek”, entitled:

X-ray diffraction on poly- and semi-crystalline materials

Participants are expected to have a background in either Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Mineralogy, Biology, Pharmacology or Crystallography. The purpose is to achieve 'working' knowledge in how to deal with crystalline samples in all of the above-mentioned fields.

Fee

€ 125 for applicants from Universities
€ 500 for other applicants

(This includes hand-outs, lunches, coffee/tea and the dinner on Tuesday).

Site of the course

The Department of Chemistry is on Campus Arenberg III at Heverlee. The terminus of Bus 2 is at the entrance of the Campus; there is a map to find your way to the Building 200F. Use only Bus 2 with indication "Campus" or "Heverlee Campus".Those coming by car should take the Celestijnenlaan and the entrance of the Campus is at the "Kapeldreef". The building is on the end at the left.

Housing

Participants should take care of their own housing as soon as possible and by preference before 30/09/2005. (In first instance make a reservation because the dead line for application is October 10 and a minimum number of participants is required).

For easy access to housing information go to the website of the town of Leuven and look for "Toerisme" and then for "Overnachten in Leuven".
There are in town some cheap hotels, a "Youth hostel" and a limited number of "Bed and Breakfast accommodations ".
A similar place is at "Paters Oblaten", Pellenbergstraat 160 B-3010 Kessel-lo (7km from Campus), which can be reached by private car and public transport. Similar price category as in La Foresta for "lodging and breakfast". Blankets are available. Bring your own towels. For reservation, contact directly the responsible person, Broeder Omer, by e-mail. Note that you have to leave your room on Friday morning. Pay cash.

Finally there is the home "Herman Servotte" in the town (in walking distance from the town center); here you can have a nice room (without breakfast) for 32 Euro per night. Blankets and towels are provided. However, there is no parking facility at all, but easy and frequent bus connections to railwaystation and the Campus Arenberg III by bus 2. Town center is in walking distance. For reservation contact by e-mail Mr. Wim Verschooten.
